Description
The Delhi government has launched the Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme, a comprehensive health coverage program aimed at providing free medical care to senior citizens aged 70 and above. The scheme was officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri present at the event. It offers annual healthcare coverage of up to Rupees 10 lakh, combining contributions from both central and state schemes.
Key Features Of Scheme
The initiative is structured to improve access to healthcare services for the elderly population of Delhi. It integrates Rupees 5 lakh coverage from the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) with an additional Rupees 5 lakh contribution from the Delhi government. This combined support provides extensive financial protection for medical treatments.
Eligibility Requirements
To benefit from the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a permanent resident of Delhi
Be 70 years of age or older
Possess a valid Aadhaar card for identification and registration
Those already covered under other health insurance schemes must decide whether to retain their current benefits or opt into this program.
