Description
The Indian Navy’s guided missile destroyer, INS Surat, has achieved a significant milestone in advancing India's defence capabilities. On April 24, 2025, the warship successfully carried out a precision cooperative engagement, targeting a sea-skimming threat in the Arabian Sea. The test featured the use of the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM), a key weapon system designed to counter a wide range of aerial threats.
About MRSAM System
The MRSAM is a highly responsive air defence missile with a range of around 70 kilometres. It utilises a combination of command guidance and an active radar seeker to ensure accurate target tracking and engagement.
