Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched the Mahila Samvad campaign, a state-wide initiative focused on empowering women and increasing their participation in welfare schemes. The campaign is particularly targeted at reaching women in rural areas and informing them about various government programmes designed for their benefit.
Campaign Goals
The primary objective of Mahila Samvad is to raise awareness about state-sponsored welfare schemes among women. It encourages them to actively utilise the services available to them. Additionally, the campaign promotes direct communication between women and government officials, creating a platform for sharing concerns, feedback, and suggestions that could shape future policies.
Mobile Information Units
A key component of the campaign includes the deployment of 600 specially designed vehicles named “women dialogue” vans. These mobile units are fitted with large digital displays to showcase government schemes and achievements. The vehicles will travel through all districts of Bihar, ensuring that even the most remote communities are informed. They will also host interactive sessions, enabling women to engage with officials directly.
Widespread Engagement
The campaign aims to reach over 2 crore women through events held at nearly 70,000 locations across the state. Senior officials will participate in these discussions to provide immediate responses to grievances and offer assistance. This large-scale engagement strategy is intended to make the government more accessible and responsive to women’s needs.

Mahila Samvad is expected to significantly increase awareness of women’s rights and government schemes.
