Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has announced an increase in tuition fees for the 2025-26 academic session, with hikes ranging from 16% to 41% across various courses. A comparison of the latest prospectus with the previous year’s fees highlights a significant rise in costs.
Breakdown Of Fee Hikes Across Departments:
Department of Persian - Fees increased by 41.41%, rising from Rupees 6,700 to Rupees 9,475 per year.
Department of Arabic - Saw a 37.15% hike, with annual fees increasing from Rupees 7,200 to Rupees 9,875.
Foreign Language Courses (e.g., BA in Turkish) - Also experienced a 37.15% increase.
Social Sciences (BA & MA in Political Science, BCom, etc.) - Fees rose by 32.99%, increasing from Rupees 7,425 to Rupees 9,875 per year.
Science Courses (BSc in Geography, Mathematics, Physics, etc.) - A 34.29% hike was recorded, with fees rising from Rupees 7,800 to Rupees 10,475 per year.
Professional Courses - BTech: Fees increased by 19.04%, from Rupees 16,150 to Rupees 19,225 per year. MTech: Now costs Rupees 21,375 per year, reflecting a 16.48% rise.
Law Programs (LLM, BA LLB) - Fees increased by 19%, rising from Rupees 15,000 to Rupees 17,850 annually.
With tuition fees rising across all programs, students may face added financial challenges in the upcoming academic year.
New Course Introductions & CUET Expansion
In addition to the fee revisions, JMI has launched 14 new courses and expanded the use of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores for admissions.
CUET-based admissions - 25 programs (including nine undergraduate, five postgraduate, eight diploma, and three advanced diploma courses) will now accept CUET scores. This marks an increase from 20 programs last year.
