The female spiders are easily identifiable by a yellow triangular marking on their prosoma, while the males display distinct colour patterns. E. falciformis has a body length of 4.39 mm, whereas E. palustris ranges from 3.69 mm to 4.57 mm. Both species thrive in the dense vegetation of the Western Ghats, a region known for its exceptional biodiversity.

Further genetic studies revealed that Hipposideros srilankaensis diverges from other species in the Hipposideros genus. The research also led to the reclassification of Hipposideros brachyotus as a separate species endemic to India, distinct from Hipposideros galeritus. Additionally, genetic variations within populations of Hipposideros galeritus across Southeast Asia suggest that there may be even more undiscovered species in this genus.
