Description
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced the dates for the second Computer-Based Test (CBT 2) for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment exam 2024. The CBT 2 for ALP will take place on March 19 and 20, 2025. Additionally, RRB has rescheduled the CBT 2 exams for other positions, including Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA). The revised dates for the CBT 2 exams for these roles will be released soon.
The RRBs will activate the link to download exam details, including the city, date, and travel authority (for SC/ST candidates) 10 days before the exam. The e-call letters or admit cards will be available for download four days prior to the exam date, as indicated in the exam city and date intimation.
Candidates will undergo biometric authentication at the exam center using their Aadhaar cards before entering the examination hall. Therefore, it is mandatory for all candidates to bring either their original Aadhaar card or a printed copy of their e-verified Aadhaar. RRBs have also recommended candidates to complete their Aadhaar verification online by logging in with their credentials for a smoother entry process.
The official notification emphasizes that candidates should only refer to the RRB official websites for the latest updates and warnings against fraudsters who might make false promises regarding job appointments. The recruitment process for the ALP position is entirely merit-based, following the Computer-Based Test.

The ALP recruitment aims to fill 18,799 vacancies, initially advertised as 5,696 positions but later increased due to additional requests from zonal railways. Additionally, the JE recruitment exam is set to fill 7,951 vacancies, including 17 positions for Chemical Supervisor / Research and Metallurgical Supervisor / Research, and 7,934 roles for Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant.
