Description
The Government of India has launched the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) initiative, designed to create and update land records in urban and semi-urban regions. The programme was officially inaugurated by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh. NAKSHA will cover 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) spread across 26 states and three Union Territories, with a total funding of Rupees 194 crore from the central government.
Key Objectives Of NAKSHA
The main aim of NAKSHA is to ensure accurate land ownership records.

States and Union Territories will conduct ground surveys and validate the aerial data through ground truthing.
The outcome will be the publication of urban and semi-urban land records, which will be issued as registration cards to property owners.
