About Crocodile Catfish
The Crocodile Catfish, scientifically known as Bagarius suchus, belongs to the Sisoridae family. It is often referred to by other names such as the giant devil catfish, crocodile goonch catfish, or the Asian giant river catfish. This species is recognized for its impressive size, making it one of Asia's largest freshwater catfish, capable of growing over 1.5 meters in length and weighing more than 50 kilograms. The fish is typically dark brown or black with irregular patches across its body, and its dorsal fin stretches almost the full length of its back. According to the IUCN Red List, it is classified as Near Threatened.

Native to freshwater environments in South and Southeast Asia, the Crocodile Catfish is found in large rivers and deep pools with slow to moderate currents. These fish are typically found in rocky and gravel-rich riverbeds.
