Description
The BIMSTEC Youth Summit is set to take place from February 7th to 11th, 2025, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Organized by the Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India, the summit will officially begin on February 8th, 2025, with Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurating the event. The summit's main objective is to bring together the youth of BIMSTEC nations to exchange ideas and experiences related to youth-led initiatives.
About BIMSTEC
BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) is a regional organization made up of seven member countries: India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, and Bhutan. The organization aims to address shared challenges such as climate change, poverty, and sustainable development.
Summit Objectives
The idea for the BIMSTEC Youth Summit was conceived during the 4th BIMSTEC Summit held in Kathmandu in 2018. The goal of the summit is to foster dialogue among youth delegates from the member countries. The summit’s theme, "Youth as a Bridge for Intra-BIMSTEC Exchange," encourages young leaders to engage with global challenges and contribute to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Delegate Participation
A total of 70 delegates will participate in the summit, with each member country sending 10 youth representatives. These delegates have been selected based on their expertise in areas related to youth development, ensuring a rich and diverse range of perspectives that will foster meaningful discussions and solutions.
Key Sessions And Initiatives
A significant session titled “Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue X BIMSTEC” will highlight youth development initiatives. Another important initiative, Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), will focus on providing equitable access to opportunities for youth, using technology to facilitate youth-led progress.
Cultural And Technological Exploration
Delegates will also visit key cultural landmarks, including Dandi Kutir and Sabarmati Ashram, which are dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi’s life and philosophy. Additionally, delegates will tour GIFT City, India’s first smart city and International Financial Services Centre, to explore India’s advancements in global finance and technology.

The summit is designed to empower young leaders by fostering collaboration and sharing of best practices. By creating a platform for youth to connect and share insights, the summit aims to build a network of young leaders who can drive sustainable development in their communities and beyond.
