The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME) has introduced an initiative aimed at boosting the digital visibility of small businesses across India. The MSME Trade Enablement and Marketing (TEAM) Initiative, which has a budget allocation of Rupees 277.35 crore over three years, seeks to onboard 5 lakh micro and small enterprises, with a particular emphasis on businesses led by women. This effort is being carried out in collaboration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Goals Of TEAM Initiative

The primary goal of the TEAM Initiative is to integrate MSMEs into the ONDC ecosystem. This includes offering services such as digital storefronts, integrated payment solutions, and logistics assistance to make it easier for these businesses to operate online. The initiative also seeks to reduce operational challenges and build credibility for the participating businesses.

Workshops And Training Programs

Over 150 workshops will be held in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, focusing on assisting MSMEs in creating compliant digital catalogs and maximizing their use of the ONDC platform. Special support will be offered to women-led businesses and those run by individuals from SC/ST communities.

Financial Support For MSMEs

The initiative also provides financial assistance to participants in the Seller Network. This support will help with the creation of digital catalogs, day-to-day operations, and account management, ensuring small businesses are equipped to succeed in the digital marketplace.

ONDC is a decentralized network of interconnected e-marketplaces that enables sellers to list their products directly to consumers, bypassing traditional e-commerce platforms. The network’s goal is to make digital commerce more inclusive and accessible for small businesses, creating a level playing field.
