The Odisha Police Recruitment Board is set to begin the registration and application process for 933 Sub Inspector (SI) and equivalent positions starting January 20. The application window will remain open until February 10 on the official website. No application fee is required.
Out of the 933 vacancies, 609 are for the "Sub-Inspector of Police" role, 253 for "Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed)", 47 for "Station Officer (Fire Service)", and 24 for the "Assistant Jailor" position under the Home Department, Government of Odisha.
The recruitment board has specified that persons with disabilities are not eligible for any of these positions. Only women and transgender candidates can apply for the SI Police and Assistant Jailor positions.
Candidates must be between 21 and 25 years of age as of January 1, 2024, with a relaxation of up to five years in the upper age limit for SC, ST, SEBC, and women candidates. Ex-servicemen are eligible for relaxation equal to the duration of their service. If a candidate qualifies for age relaxation under multiple categories, they will receive the benefit that provides the most advantage.
Odisha Police SI Recruitment 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be Indian citizens with good moral character, sound health, and free from any physical defects or infirmities. They should be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Odia.
To qualify, candidates must have passed their ME school or higher-level examinations with Odia as a subject, HSC or equivalent with Odia as a medium in non-language subjects, or an Odia written test in the ME school standard conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha. Candidates who have more than one living spouse or have been convicted of a criminal offense are not eligible.
For the SI Police, SI Police (Armed), and Assistant Jailor positions, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree. Only Science or Engineering graduates are eligible to apply for the Station Officer (Fire Service) vacancies.
The selection process involves an OMR-based written test, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST), which are qualifying in nature. After the written exam, candidates equal to seven times the number of vacancies will be called for PET/PST based on merit.
