Description

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that the NEET UG 2025 exam will be held in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based) on a single day and in a single shift. This decision was made by the National Medical Commission (NMC) following discussions between the education and health ministries regarding whether the exam should be conducted online or offline. The official notice was released on January 16, 2025, and can be accessed on the NTA’s website.

The notice states, "As per the decision of the National Medical Commission (NMC), NEET UG 2025 will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (OMR-based) on a single day and in a single shift."

The possibility of transitioning to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format for NEET has been considered in the past, especially after controversies like last year's paper leak incident. Since 2019, the NTA has been organizing the NEET UG on behalf of the NMC. The examination serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical programs across various institutions.

For NEET UG 2025, there are a total of 1,08,000 MBBS seats available, with around 56,000 seats in government institutions and about 52,000 seats in private colleges. The NEET score is also used for admission to undergraduate courses in Dentistry, Ayurveda, Unani, and Siddha. In 2024, over 24 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, which was held in May and the results were declared in July.

For further updates and detailed information, candidates can visit the NEET UG official website.
