Description

The Railway Minister recently announced the introduction of 12 key improvements in the Amrit Bharat Version 2.0 trains.

About Amrit Bharat Trains 2.0

Purpose

These new trains aim to provide an affordable and comfortable travel experience for low and middle-income families.

Manufacturing Plans

Over the next two years, 50 upgraded Amrit Bharat trains will be produced at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF).

Key Features

  • Semi-automatic couplers for smoother operations.

  • Modular toilets for better hygiene.

  • Ergonomic seating and berths designed for comfort.

  • Emergency talk-back systems for communication during emergencies.

  • Continuous lighting systems similar to those found in Vande Bharat trains.

  • Enhanced pantry car designs for improved catering services.

  • IoT-based water level indicators that use internet technology to help station and onboard staff manage water levels efficiently.

  • External emergency lighting for visibility in situations like derailments or accidents.

The Amrit Bharat train follows a Push-Pull Train configuration with LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches, which feature locos at both ends to enhance acceleration.

Additionally, these trains offer improved passenger amenities, including aesthetically designed seats, spacious luggage racks, mobile charging points with holders, LED lights, CCTV cameras, and a public information system. The first version of Amrit Bharat trains was launched in 2024.
