Description

The Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme, launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE), is designed to assist overseas students in securing admission to high-quality technical programs at prominent institutions in India.

About DASA Scheme

Introduced in 2001, the DASA scheme allows foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Non-Resident Indians (NRI), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in leading technical institutions such as National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), and other prestigious, centrally funded institutions in India.

This initiative aims to provide overseas students with access to India's top-tier educational infrastructure, fostering international collaboration and excellence in technical education.

Steps To Apply For DASA Scheme

Interested candidates must first register online and complete an application form through the DASA portal. Payment of the required fees can be made through SWIFT, E-Payment, NEFT, or RTGS transfer before the deadline, which will be posted on the DASA official website. All required documents must be uploaded directly through the portal. Only registered applicants will be considered for admission under the DASA scheme.

According to the 2024 UG brochure, candidates applying for undergraduate programs must meet the following criteria:

  • Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks (or 6.00 CGPA on a 10-point scale) in their qualifying examination.

  • For M.Tech, M.Arch, M.Plan, and M.Des, applicants must have a minimum GRE score of 300 (Verbal + Quantitative).

  • MBA applicants must have a minimum GMAT score of 480.

Some M.Tech programs may have additional specific eligibility conditions, which are outlined on the official DASA website.

Admission Process And Counseling

For Undergraduate Courses:

  • The seat allocation will be based on the JEE (Main) rank and the applicant's preferences in terms of merit and priority.

For Postgraduate Courses:

  • The seat allocation for PG courses will be based on valid GRE/GMAT scores along with the applicant's preferences and merit.

In 2024, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur coordinated the DASA scheme. The application process began in June, and the final admissions were concluded by August.
