Opposition parties have decided to file a notice under Article 67(b) of the Constitution seeking the removal of the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

About Article 67(b)

Article 67(b) of the Indian Constitution provides the procedure for the removal of the Vice President, who also holds the position of ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. According to this provision, the Vice President can be removed from office through a resolution passed by the Rajya Sabha with a special majority, which must also be approved by the Lok Sabha by a simple majority.

Before such a resolution can be introduced, a minimum of 14 days' notice must be given, specifying the intention to move the resolution and outlining the reasons behind it. The Constitution does not specify particular grounds for removal, thus leaving the decision to the discretion of the Members of Parliament.
