The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an investment of Rupees 1,750 crore for the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project in Arunachal Pradesh, aimed at boosting the region's power supply.

Project Details

The Tato-I Hydro Electric Project will have a total capacity of 186 MW, divided into three units, each generating 62 MW. The project is expected to produce around 802 million units of electricity annually.

The timeline for the completion of the Tato-I HEP is set at 50 months, covering all stages from construction to operational readiness.

Benefits For Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh will receive 12% of the electricity produced by the plant at no cost. Furthermore, 1% of the revenue generated from the project will be allocated to the Local Area Development Fund (LADF).

The project will be carried out by a Joint Venture Company, with collaboration between the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd. (NEEPCO) and the Arunachal Pradesh government. This partnership will ensure the efficient management and operation of the hydroelectric plant.
