Description
The Indian Army has launched a new online learning platform called Eklavya, aligning with the "Decade of Transformation" and the Year of Technology Absorption in 2024. The platform was officially inaugurated by General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff.
Development And Hosting
Eklavya was developed by the Headquarters Army Training Command with significant support from the Army War College. The platform was created by the Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics (BISAG-N) in Gandhinagar, at no cost, and is hosted on the Army Data Network.
Scalability And Registration
Designed to be highly scalable, Eklavya allows the Army to seamlessly integrate various training establishments into the system. Officers can register for multiple courses simultaneously, with 96 courses currently available across 17 key training establishments.
Course Categories
Eklavya offers three primary categories of courses:
Pre-Course Preparatory Capsules
These courses provide foundational study materials for physical training courses. They focus on covering basic concepts, preparing officers for more advanced practical training during in-person sessions.
Assignment-Specific Courses
These short courses are tailored for officers in specialized roles and cover topics such as information warfare and financial planning. They are designed to enhance efficiency in specific assignments and support officers' career development.
Professional Development Suite
This suite includes courses focused on strategy, leadership, and emerging technologies, promoting ongoing learning and skill development to help officers stay current with new challenges in their professional lives.
Knowledge Highway
One of the standout features of Eklavya is its Knowledge Highway, a searchable platform that houses journals, research papers, and articles. This resource supports the continuous professional development of officers, reduces congestion in physical training sessions, and promotes specialization in various military domains.
