Eight-year-old Divith Reddy from Hyderabad recently achieved a significant milestone by winning the Under-8 World Cadets Chess Championship. His triumph, which took place on a Tuesday, was a proud moment for India. Divith scored an impressive 9 out of 11 points, tying with fellow Indian player Sattwik Swain. However, Divith secured the gold medal thanks to a superior tiebreak score, while Sattwik earned silver and Ziming Guo from China claimed the bronze.

Divith began the tournament with a strong start, winning his first four matches. However, he faced a couple of setbacks, losing two rounds in a row. Despite this, he showed remarkable resilience and determination, winning the final five rounds to clinch the gold medal.
