The Supreme Court of India has delayed the hearing related to the NEET PG 2024 case. The court is now set to hear petitions regarding transparency in the NEET PG entrance exams and the release of the answer key on November 26, 2024.
A group of NEET PG candidates filed petitions seeking clarity from the National Board of Examinations (NBEMS) on several issues, including the exam's conduct, the marking system, and the release of the question paper and answer key. In the previous hearing, the Supreme Court questioned NBEMS about the changes made to the exam pattern just three days before the exam.
Aspirants have requested the release of the answer key and the raw scores used to calculate the final NEET PG scores. However, NBEMS has not provided this information yet.
Recap Of The NEET PG Last Hearing
In the hearing on October 25, 2024, Justice JB Pardiwala raised concerns over the transparency of the NEET PG exams. He questioned whether the process of answer verification could be brought under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. NBEMS had stated that answers are evaluated automatically by computers, with no human involvement, ensuring a purely automated evaluation process.
The issue of not releasing the NEET PG answer key was also discussed. NBEMS cited concerns that releasing the answer key could lead to the exposure of all exam questions, which might compromise the security of the test. Justice Pardiwala directed the counsels and representatives from the Union of India to prepare notes for further discussions in the upcoming hearing.
The NEET PG hearing began on September 20, 2024, when aspirants filed a petition asking for greater clarity on how the exams are conducted, along with addressing various other concerns. It is important to note that despite the ongoing hearings, the NEET PG counseling process has already begun.
