Description
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) have come together to expand educational opportunities for students through shared resources, research internships, and immersive summer programs.
This partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both institutions, offering an enriched learning experience for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BS) programs at IIT Madras and undergraduate programs at IIT Palakkad.
IIT Madras launched its four-year BS in Data Science and Applications program in June 2020, which provides students with high-quality training through online learning supplemented by in-person assessments. Over 30,000 students are currently enrolled in this program. Under this new collaboration, eligible IIT Madras BS (Data Science and Applications) students can earn credits by taking courses at IIT Palakkad. In return, undergraduate students at IIT Palakkad will have the opportunity to enroll in courses related to Data Science and Programming from the IIT Madras BS program.
The collaboration will also pave the way for student exchange programs, internships, and other joint initiatives. This is not the first such partnership for IIT Madras. Previously, IIT Gandhinagar, IIIT Hyderabad, and Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) have also made their courses available to eligible students from the IIT Madras BS (Data Science) program.
