The 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), taking place from November 6 to 17, 2024, is currently hosting an impressive replica of the original handwritten Constitution of India. This exhibit is part of India's prominent literary participation at the fair. The A3-sized replica, certified by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, ensures that it is a high-quality and accurate representation.
India’s Literary Representation
The National Book Trust (NBT) of India, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, is spearheading India’s participation in SIBF 2024. NBT is showcasing several significant literary collections, such as the PM-YUVA series, which focuses on India’s Freedom Movement and Knowledge Systems, as well as the Indian@75 series, which highlights India’s journey since its independence.
Participation Overview
India's presence at this year's fair is notable, with 52 leading publishers from the country involved. SIBF 2024 brings together over 2,500 publishers from 112 countries, with the UAE leading Arab participation with 234 publishers and the United Kingdom contributing the largest contingent of international publishers, with 81 participating.
Guest Of Honour And Speakers
Morocco is the Guest of Honour at this year’s fair, presenting its vibrant literary and cultural heritage. The event also features 49 international speakers from 14 different countries, enriching the fair’s global perspective. A total of 134 distinguished guests are attending, further elevating the fair’s stature.
Workshops And Activities
The theme for SIBF 2024, It Starts with a Book, encompasses a diverse array of activities. The fair hosts over 400 authors and offers more than 600 workshops catering to all age groups. Special pre-booked sessions will also be available, led by renowned global experts in creative writing, offering unique opportunities for aspiring writers and literary enthusiasts.
