The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is now taking part at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London from November 5 to 7, 2024. The United Kingdom is a key source of incoming tourism to India, with over 0.92 million trips expected in 2023.

Indian Diaspora In The United Kingdom

The UK has a substantial Indian diaspora of approximately 1.9 million individuals. This community plays an important role in promoting tourism in India.  The Government of India hopes to encourage this diaspora to invite their non-Indian acquaintances to visit India.

India Pavilion At WTM 2024

 The India Pavilion at WTM highlights India's cultural richness and tourism opportunities. It contains a delegation of approximately 50 stakeholders, including state governments, tour operators, and motels. The pavilion focuses on specialty tourism experiences such as spiritual wellness, adventure, and gourmet tourism.

Pavilion's primary Focus Areas

This year's focus is on MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), Mahakumbh, and Wedding Tourism. To engage visitors, the display includes a replica Mandapam that depicts an Indian wedding.

Participating States And Stakeholders

Several states are represented, including Uttarakhand, Goa, Kerala, and Rajasthan. Each state promotes its own distinct tourism experiences. State tourist departments, airlines, and destination management corporations are all major players.

The India Pavilion was launched by Shri Vikram Doraiswami, India's High Commissioner, and Ms. Mugdha Sinha, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism. They were accompanied by tourism ministers from Odisha, Telangana, Goa, and Uttarakhand.

Chalo India Initiative

The Chalo India initiative encourages Indian diaspora to promote tourism in India. The Chalo India webpage allows the diaspora to invite friends to visit. Visitors may be offered a free e-tourist visa as an incentive.

Incredible India Digital Portal

On September 27, 2024, the Ministry of Tourism unveiled the 'Incredible India Content Hub'. This digital library supports a variety of stakeholders, including tour operators and journalists. The portal attempts to improve visitors' travel experiences.
