The Curtain Raiser Press Conference for Swavlamban 2024, the third edition of the Indian Navy's Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation (NIIO) Seminar, was held in New Delhi on October 22, 2024. The ceremony, chaired by Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Vice Chief of Naval Staff (VCNS), emphasized the Navy's commitment to demonstrating major advances in innovation and indigenization targeted at strengthening India's defense capabilities. Swavlamban 2024, which will take place in Bharat Mandapam on October 28-29, 2024, promises to be a larger and more significant gathering.
Focus On Aatmanirbharta
The VCNS emphasized on the Navy's continuous efforts to achieve Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in military technologies, which represent a substantial shift from prior attempts. This year's seminar will feature a variety of events, including the presentation of challenges, debates on niche technologies, and the release of the Swavlamban 3.0 Document.
Special Task Forces
In order to improve technological capabilities, the Navy has formed two special task teams led by Rear Admirals. These teams will concentrate on integrating and implementing specialized technologies to fill capability gaps and investigate advanced technologies. This effort supports the Navy's current Technology Development Accelerator Cell (TDAC) and demonstrates a proactive commitment to improving naval operations.
Swavlamban 2024's key Highlights
Theme- The event's theme is "Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation," which reflects the Navy's commitment to promoting innovation to address modern wartime concerns.
Swavlamban 2024 will include a number of activities, including the announcement of challenges, the release of the Swavlamban 3.0 Document, domain-specific debates on niche technologies, support for the innovation ecosystem, and the honoring of innovators.
Hackathon difficulties- The VCNS hosted the first Hackathon Challenges, a national-level competition meant to address real-world operational difficulties with innovative technical solutions, allowing participants to work across several technological domains.
