Description

The Union government will establish ten new ESIC medical colleges and extend the jobless benefit plan for ESI Corporation members till June 2026, the Labour and Employment Ministry announced on October 8.

Mansukh Mandaviya, the Labour and Employment Minister, announced numerous critical decisions at an ESI Corporation meeting to expand ESIC's infrastructure and medical facilities, according to a government announcement.

Mandaviya announced the establishment of ten new ESIC Medical Colleges throughout the country. This decision will assist the Prime Minister's announcement during his Independence Day (2024) speech to create 75,000 new medical seats over the next five years, according to the ministry.

He has extended Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for another two years, beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2026.

The 2018 initiative aims to provide assistance in the form of an Unemployment Allowance throughout the period when an insured person looks for a new job to earn money.

Furthermore, it was determined to give medical care to ESIC participants under a convergence scheme between ESIC and Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) on a pan-India basis. There would be no expenditure limit for ESIC-insured patients in empanelled hospitals under PMJAY.
