Iran recently launched over 180 ballistic missiles, including the hypersonic medium-range Fattah-2, in a massive operation intended at overwhelming Israel's air defences.
About Fattah-2
Fattah, or conqueror in Farsi, is a hypersonic ballistic missile.
Iran developed it. It is a new variant of their first domestically manufactured hypersonic ballistic missile, the 'Fattah'.
Features
It is outfitted with a Hypersonic Glide Vehicle (HGV) warhead that can manoeuvre and glide at hypersonic speeds.
It is powered by a liquid-fueled rocket. The liquid fuel engine may change the thrust force.
The precision-guided two-stage missile has a Mach 15 velocity (fifteen times the speed of sound, or 18522 km/hr) and can kill targets within a range of 1500 miles.
It is 12 meters long and capable of carrying 200 kilograms of explosives.
It may make considerable trajectory adjustments in flight to avoid defensive systems.
While the missile can accelerate outside of the Earth's atmosphere, its aerodynamic control surfaces enable manoeuvring within the atmosphere.
