The Prime Minister of India recently launched the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan in Jharkhand, with an outlay of over Rs 80,000 crore.

Regarding Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan

• It aims to promote holistic development in tribal settlements, therefore transforming the region's socioeconomic landscape.

• The Abhiyan will reach about 63,843 villages, helping over 5 crore tribal people in 549 districts and 2,911 blocks throughout all tribal majority villages and aspirational blocks in 30 states/UTs.

• It aims to close major gaps in social infrastructure, health, education, and livelihood through 25 interventions carried out by 17-line ministries of the Government of India through convergence and outreach, as well as to guarantee comprehensive and sustainable development of tribal territories and communities.

• The project would cost Rs.79,156 crores in total (Rs.56,333 crore for the central share and Rs.22,823 crore for the state share).

• It is based on the learnings and successes of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN), which began in November 2023.

• The PM-JANMAN has a budget of Rs. 24,104 crores and focusses on the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) population.
