KAZIND-2024 is the eighth iteration of the joint military exercise between India and Kazakhstan, which began on September 30, 2024, in Auli, Uttarakhand, India. The exercise will continue until October 13th, 2024. This biennial event aims to deepen the military partnership between the two countries.
History To The Exercise
The KAZIND exercise began in 2016 as a mechanism for India and Kazakhstan's military to train and share information. The most recent edition took place in Otar, Kazakhstan, from October 30th to November 11th, 2023. It swaps between the two countries every year.
India is represented by soldiers from the KUMAON Regiment (120 people) and the Indian Air Force. Kazakhstan has sent troops from its land forces as well as airborne assault troopers.
Aims And Objectives
The primary goal of KAZIND-2024 is to improve how the two militaries collaborate, particularly during counter-terrorism operations. This is especially essential in semi-urban settings and steep terrain. The main objectives include-
Developing high levels of physical fitness in soldiers.
Practicing and perfecting tactical drills.
Sharing best practices between Indian and Kazakh military.
Tactical Drills To Be Practiced In Upcoming Military Exercise
During the exercise, soldiers will practise tactical drills, such as-
Joint responses to terrorist activity.
Establishing a Joint Command Post and an Intelligence and Surveillance Centre.
Securing helipads and landing areas.
Combat free fall and Special Heliborne Operations training.
Carrying out cordon and search activities.
Using drones and counter-drone devices.
