Sea robins are members of the Triglid family of ray-finned fish, which live in a variety of settings worldwide, from shallow salt marshes to deep oceans.

The majority of Triglidae fish are benthic specialists, meaning they spend a lot of time on the ocean floor hunting for fish, crabs, and other invertebrates.
