Description
Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister of Communications, attended the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) Bengaluru Campus to open the 5G O-RAN (Open Radio Access Network) Testing facility.
Purpose
The Lab will help to establish an end-to-end 5G ecosystem in India, focusing on core, access, transport, cloud, orchestration, and security.
Remarks By Him
He encouraged the young engineers to continue their energy and desire for innovation in order to realize the Hon'ble Prime Minister's goal of "Atmanirbhar Bharat" and move to "Viksit Bharat 2047".
The Minister praised C-DOT's collaborative research programs, BharatRAN-1 and BharatRAN-2, for developing an O-RAN compliant disaggregated 5G RAN solution capable of operating in the FR1 (Frequency Range) and FR2 bands for public and private 5G networks.
He promised full policy assistance for promoting research and innovation in Bengaluru, India's 'Silicon Valley'.

Objective
The goal is to advance research in frontier technologies, protocols, and architectures that will serve as the foundation for next-generation mobile networks as they evolve toward 6G and beyond.
The Center of Excellence houses cutting-edge modeling tools and test infrastructure for designing, prototyping, and commercializing innovative wireless products and solutions that will support emerging usage scenarios and applications as envisioned by ITU-R's IMT-2030 (International Mobile Telecommunications) framework.
The center is now focusing on contributions to developing areas such as AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning), Terahertz Communications, and Sub-band Full Duplex, among others.
