The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has extended quarterly holidays for all educational institutions in the state. Students will now return to their classes on October 7, rather than October 3, 2024. Tamil Nadu's school holidays have been extended in response to pleas from several teacher unions.

According to the official order, all government-aided, private primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools will be closed until October 6, 2024. The authorities plan to start school on October 7, 2024.

In September, schools in Tamil Nadu offer quarterly exams to students in class 6 through 12. TN quarterly tests began on September 19 and will continue until September 27, 2024. Students can spend their holidays from September 28 to October 6, 2024.
