The 4th RE-Invest Summit, hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), saw leading renewable energy (RE) developers, manufacturing companies, banks, and financial institutions pledge nearly $386 billion (Rs 32.45 trillion) to develop RE projects by 2030. India wants to build 500 gigawatts (Gw) of renewable energy capacity by 2030, but solar power sector promises have reached 570 Gw. RIL tops the pack with a pledge of 100 Gw, followed by NTPC (41.3 Gw) and ReNew (40 Gw).
ReNew aims to create 6 Gw of solar manufacturing capacity, while Gujarat-based Torrent Power has committed to 10 Gw. A new program named 'Shapath Patra' intends to attract green energy investments, with pledges of 338 Gw for solar module production, 239 Gw for cell manufacturing, and 22 Gw for wind turbine manufacture.

Financial Commitments
Banks and financial institutions invested Rs 24.8 trillion to finance renewable energy projects, with REC leading at Rs 6 trillion. IREDA committed Rs 5 trillion, with Power Finance Corporation (PFC) contributing Rs 3 trillion. SBI committed Rs 5 trillion, while PNB contributed Rs 79,000 crore. Brookfield leads private investors with Rs 54,000 crore.
State Participation
Key attendees included Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Andhra Pradesh plans to build 60 Gw of renewable energy capacity by 2030, as well as 1.5 MMTPA of green hydrogen production.
Growth And Global Commitments
India's solar capacity has expanded 33 times since 2014, with the country now at 200 Gw of renewable energy capacity and aiming for 500 Gw by 2030. This is one of India's global obligations, including at the G20 and the UNFCCC.
