Times Travel named Cambodia's Angkor Wat the most photogenic UNESCO World Heritage site in Asia, as Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said on September 15. This honor was announced via a post on his official Telegram channel, which included the Times of India's list of Asia's top ten most photogenic UNESCO sites.

Top Sites On The List

The list covers notable landmarks, such as-

  • India- Taj Mahal and Hampi.

  • China- Great Wall

  • Myanmar's ancient city of Bagan

  • Indonesia- Borobudur.

  • Vietnam- Halong Bay

  • Japan- Historic Monuments in Kyoto

  • Jordan- Petra.

  • Philippines- Rice Terraces of the Cordillera

These sites are well-known for their cultural and visual appeal, and they provide excellent inspiration for photographers.

Angkor Wat's Significance

Angkor Wat is a famous temple in Siem Reap province's Angkor Archaeological Park, which spans 401 square kilometers and includes 91 ancient temples built between the 9th and 13th centuries. It is Cambodia's most popular tourism destination, with 651,857 international tourists in the first eight months of 2024, up 30.7% from the previous year. This period's ticket sales revenue was $30.3 million, a 31% increase over the previous year.
