Description
Siddhartha Aggarwal of Bengaluru has achieved history as the oldest Indian to swim solo across the English Channel. Aggarwal completed the 42-kilometer swim in 15 hours and six minutes on August 29, when he was 49. His astounding performance beats the previous record set by Srikaanth Viswanathan, who swam the Channel solo at the age of 46 in 2018.
Journey To Achievement
Aggarwal's quest began in 2018, when he crossed the English Channel as part of an eight-person relay team. Despite originally doubting his abilities to complete the solo swim, Aggarwal's perseverance and intensive preparation under coach Satish Kumar resulted in his triumph. The final ten kilometers of the swim were very difficult due to high tides and strong gusts.
Training And Preparation
Aggarwal's preparation for this record swim was considerable, including 15 months of intense training. Despite his hectic schedule as an entrepreneur and family guy, Aggarwal followed a strict workout regimen. His instructor, Satish Kumar, underlined that Aggarwal's achievement was the product of his constant dedication and preparation.
