The freshly released Supreme Court flag is a powerful symbol of India's judicial and cultural values. The flag is blue in hue, representing trust, knowledge, and justice, and it includes major symbols associated with India's identity. These include the Ashoka Chakra, which represents the eternal wheel of law; the Supreme Court building, which symbolizes the judiciary's authority and integrity; and the Indian Constitution, which serves as the foundation for the country's legal structure.

Along with the flag, the new Supreme Court symbol was unveiled. The phrases "Supreme Court of India" and the Sanskrit phrase "Yato Dharmastato Jayah" are carved in Devanagari script. The phrase is translated as "Where there is Dharma, there is victory" or "Victory lies where Dharma (righteousness) prevails." The use of this ancient Sanskrit word shows the Supreme Court's dedication to achieving justice and righteousness in all of its decisions. It serves as a reminder that the actual measure of justice is not power or authority, but rather the practice of Dharma, or virtue.
President Murmu's Vision: A Localized Justice System
During the unveiling ceremony, President Murmu suggested a revolutionary notion for bringing the judiciary closer to the public. She proposed establishing a local justice system, drawing on the Constitution's decentralization of authorities and responsibilities for Panchayats and Municipalities. The President believes that delivering justice in local languages and under local settings would considerably improve ordinary persons' access to and comprehension of the judicial process. This approach, she contended, would make the judiciary more responsive to the specific needs and conditions of local communities.
Call For Judicial Collaboration And Reforms
President Murmu emphasized the necessity of teamwork among the judiciary, government, and police in efficiently addressing issues within the justice system. She emphasized the importance of improving evidence management and witness protection systems, as they are crucial to achieving fair and timely justice.
The President voiced grave worry over delays in justice delivery, particularly in situations of horrific crimes such as rape, when extended trials can seriously undermine public trust in the judicial system. She noted that in some circumstances, individuals with substantial money are able to dodge justice, living freely and confidently despite their crimes. In contrast, their victims frequently live in fear, as if they were the perpetrators. This, she stated, is a regrettable and unacceptable feature of daily life that requires immediate action to restore trust in the justice system.
