The Central Board of Secondary Education will establish a 'Composite Skills Lab' in schools. The labs are being implemented to improve skill education in India in accordance with NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for Social Education (NCF-SE).

According to the official notification, schools should set up either one 600-square-foot composite skill lab for grades 6-12 or two separate 400-square-foot labs, one for grades 6-10 and the other for grades 11-12. 

According to the NCF-SE, all CBSE schools should incorporate skill topics into their curricula and make them mandatory beginning in class 6. The NCF-SE also emphasizes providing opportunities for students to engage in real-world tasks and projects that are relevant to their skills, bridging the gap between theory and practice.

According to the notification, many CBSE schools now lack the requisite facilities and equipment to give effective instruction to pupils.

According to the announcement, new schools seeking CBSE affiliation should have composite skill labs with all necessary equipment and machinery. Schools that are already associated with CBSE must set up a composite skill lab with all necessary equipment and machinery within three years.

The board will provide additional information about setting up the labs and the supplies needed to teach specific skill subjects shortly. Schools that now offer skills topics are encouraged to expand their offerings, whereas schools that do not yet offer them must incorporate them in their curriculum.
