Description

The Meghalaya Board of School Education is going to implement a new SSLC exam structure beginning with the next academic year. According to reports, MBOSE class 10 students will appear in biennial exams starting in 2025.

According to the information provided, the first exam will be taken in February, and the second will be held in May, with students who did not pass any of the topics having the option to reappear in the exams.

Rakkam A Sangma, Meghalaya's Education Minister, presented information on the scheme. According to the minister's statement, the MBOSE will hold two SSLC exams every year beginning in 2025. The first exam will be taken in February or early March, with the second taking place two months later in May.

The minister stated that the new system is being implemented to change the MBOSE regulations for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination 2011. The new system will provide students an extra chance to pass in tests and minimize the time between attempts, in line with the NEP 2020, hence improving student assistance and achievement. From 2026-27, the state will eliminate the best-of-five-papers policy, which requires students to pass all six subjects on their board exams.
