Airtel Payments Bank has announced a new security tool called Face Match, which uses AI to improve account security. This powerful technology detects possible threats using machine learning techniques and prompts face recognition verification as appropriate.

How Face Match works

Face Match looks at a variety of characteristics, including user behavior, transaction patterns, location data, history information, and device signals. If these characteristics point to a possible danger, the system initiates Face Match, which requires users to authenticate their identity with a selfie. This selfie is matched to the original photo obtained after account creation using face recognition technologies and liveliness checks.

Verification Process

After activation, customers will receive a notice on the Airtel Thanks app to complete the verification procedure. A successful match permits the transaction to continue, but a failed match necessitates a visit to a local banking location for biometric verification.
