The government named Rahul Navin, the acting Enforcement Directorate chief, as the anti-money laundering agency's full-time director for two years on August 14. In a statement issued on August 14, the Cabinet Appointments Committee confirmed his nomination as the new Director of Enforcement for the Directorate of Enforcement.

About Rahul Navin

Rahul Navin, the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) interim Director, is a 1993-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer. Navin, 57, had served as ED's Special Director since November 2019. He was named acting Director when Sanjay Kumar Mishra's term expired on September 15, 2023.

Appointment As ED

His appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of the position and will last for a period of two years or until further orders are issued."The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Rahul Navin, IRS, Special Director, ED as Director of Enforcement in the Directorate of Enforcement for a period of two years, with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier."

An Expert On International Taxation Issues

The new ED director is recognized as an expert in international taxation. During his term as interim ED Director, he oversaw the arrests of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in separate money laundering cases.
