The Union Government launched the AI-based National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS), which will allow farmers to contact with agriculture scientists and pest management experts via phone on August 15.
A New AI-Powered Surveillance System To Manage Pests
Mr. Chouhan stated at the inauguration ceremony hosted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research that the Centre's goal is to bring new technical advancements in agriculture to farmers. "All new developments in agriculture should benefit farmers," he stated, noting that improving output is a top objective for the Narendra Modi government. "Farmers require improved seeds to increase productivity. "Our scientific community is collaborating with farmers on this," he explained.
Aim Of NPSS
NPSS aims to reduce farmers' reliance on chemical sellers and promote scientific pest management practices. NPSS will use AI techniques to analyze the most recent pest data, assisting farmers and pest control experts.
Help In Finding And Controlling Pests
The Minister stated that technology should reach the fields, and NPSS is one such endeavor. "If we know about the pest attack as soon as it starts, we can help cure it. This technique will assist identify and control pests. "The benefit of technology must go to farmers," he added, adding that the Ministry will work to increase the link between scientists and farmers.
Helpful For Around 14 Crore Farmers
The Ministry stated that NPSS will benefit around 14 crore farmers in the country. The Centre intends to use the platform to connect scientists with fields. Farmers can use the NPSS platform to snap images of infested crops or insects, which will then be shared with scientists and specialists, according to the statement.
