BITS Pilani has announced the launch of its Bengaluru branch, which aims to provide multiple opportunities for BITS Pilani students, researchers, staff, incubators, and accelerator programs, among others.
According to a news statement published by the college, the new BITS Pilani office in Bengaluru has nearly 800 alumni creators, the highest concentration of alumni in any one city worldwide.
Hustlehub, one of the city's major providers of enterprise and coworking office spaces, sponsored the new center, which is located in Bengaluru's HSR Layout, according to the statement.
Furthermore, the school is exploring engagement with the corporate community, which includes both alumni and non-alumni-led groups.
It will also help to broaden the scope of institute initiatives, such as expanding Practice School and Placement stations and procuring industry-sponsored research and consulting projects.
At the same time, BITS Pilani plans to build an industry-aligned curriculum that will prepare students for jobs.
In addition, it strives to develop networks that can give mentorship and investment to student and alumni start-ups, among other efforts.
Notably, the BITS Pilani Bangalore Center will be managed by Prof Mridula Goel of the K K Birla Campus in Goa, with support from the Alumni Affairs Division and the institute's Incubation Societies.
Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani, stated that the Bengaluru Centre demonstrates the institution's commitment to fostering innovation and industry engagement.
“Launching a new Centre in Bangalore will help us intensify our relation with the local community and create a dynamic ecosystem that nurtures innovation and the development of budding entrepreneurs and researchers,” Professor Rao said.
Professor Mridula Goel, the founding leader of the BITS Goa Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship Society, thanked the alumni for their support of institute activities.
She said, “The support of various founders and investors for the activities of this Center will be the key to scaling its operations. Early support has already been committed by alumni founders of Hustlehub, Quizizz, Questt, Innaccel, Bewgle, Flutura, Flam, Portkey, Bogmalo Foods, Petasense, and VC founders from Blume, AllinCapital, etc.”
