The Indian Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia was recently restarted by the Indian Embassy in Jakarta and IndCham. This event drew over 150 participants from major Indian and Indonesian corporations, marking an important milestone in strengthening commercial links between the two countries.
Importance Of Relaunch
The chamber's rebirth addresses the need for a vibrant business community to support India-Indonesia economic connections, which have increased dramatically over the last decade. The chamber was originally established in 1977, however it became dormant during the pandemic.
Significant Partnerships
India and Indonesia have created a strong alliance known as Comprehensive Strategic Partners. They have a combined GDP of $5 trillion and a population of 1.7 billion, making them key drivers of future global growth.
Bilateral Trade Objectives
In 2022, trade between the two countries was $38.8 billion, with ambitions to expand to $50 billion by 2025. India is the 14th largest investor in Indonesia, with 80 Indian businesses doing business there.
