India and Vietnam have collaborated to create the National marine Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat, highlighting their close marine ties. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, is a crucial step forward in this collaborative endeavor to conserve and celebrate both nations' shared marine heritage.
Collaborative Efforts And Objectives
The NMHC will emphasize many elements of India and Vietnam's historical and cultural relations. Key features include-
- Artifact Exchange
Both countries will exchange relics, replicas, paintings, and archive documents pertaining to their maritime past.
- Expertise Sharing
The partnership will involve the pooling of design, technological, and maintenance skills in order to build an educational and recreational area that uses cutting-edge technologies.
Project Features And Development
- Location and Progress
The Gujarat government has allocated 400 acres in Saragwala village for the NMHC, with phase 1A already more than 55% completed. The complex is planned to be open to the public next year.

The complex will contain-
One of the world's tallest lighthouse museums.
The world's largest open aquatic gallery.
India's largest naval museum.
Lothal's miniature replica of Harappan buildings and lifestyle
Theme parks include Memorial, Maritime and Navy, Climate, and Adventure and Amusement.
Fourteen galleries display maritime legacy from Harappan antiquity to the present.
The Coastal States Pavilion showcases maritime history from India's states and Union Territories.
Future Prospects And Impact

The NMHC will also promote international tourism focusing on maritime history and will include a Marine history and Conservation Laboratory.
