Description
Ocean Engineering is concerned with the design and operation of man-made structures in the ocean and other marine bodies. The Department of Ocean Engineering provides a BTech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, with the option of pursuing a Dual Degree in Ocean Engineering or Applied Mechanics.
After completing the course at IIT Madras, students can pursue a career or further their education as a Naval Architect or Ocean Engineer, among other options. Ocean Engineering jobs are primarily for Coastal Engineers and Offshore Engineers. Schlumberger, Reliance Offshore, Shell, and Vedam are some of the organizations that frequently hire graduates in this industry.
