About GPT-4o Mini

The GPT-4o mini is a smaller, lower-cost version of OpenAI's other language models. It costs 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million exit tokens, more than 60% cheaper than its predecessor, GPT-3.5 Turbo.

Performance Metrics

According to OpenAI, GPT-4o small outperforms GPT-4 in conversation tastes and achieves an 82% score on the MMLU benchmark for Massive Multitask Language Understanding. MMLU assesses how well a model can learn and apply language in a range of scenarios. On the other hand, Google's Gemini Flash receives 77.9%, while Anthropic's Claude Haiku receives 73.8%. This makes the GPT-4o mini highly competitive in terms of word comprehension.

Availability

The tiny variant requires less computing power, making it suitable for enterprises with limited resources. Because it is so efficient, more organizations can include creative AI into their operations. ChatGPT users on the Free, Plus, and Team tiers can use GPT-4o small instead of GPT-3.5 Turbo immediately. Next week, business users will be able to do the same thing. The model is based on current knowledge and extends until October 2023.
