The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will host its 26th convocation on July 14. The institute will grant 2,145 degrees to its graduating class, with 932 in undergraduate programs, 938 in postgraduate programs, and 275 in PhD programs. This year's graduating class includes 468 female students.
This year, the first batches of graduates from a variety of programs, including the MBA, MA in liberal arts, MDes in electronic product design, MTech in bioengineering, MTech in biomedical science and engineering, MS(R) in polymer science and technology, and the first PhD student in the Joint PhD program in food science and technology with Gifu University, will receive their degrees.
According to an IIT-G statement, 63 students have graduated since its inaugural convocation in 1999, and the institute has achieved outstanding success. Over the last 25 years, more than 22,600 students have received degrees from IIT Guwahati.
The 26th Convocation will award four gold medals, including the President's gold medal, the Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma gold medal, and the Governor of Assam gold medal, in both undergraduate and postgraduate categories. Furthermore, 16 silver medals will be given to the top performers in each subject of the BTech, BDes, MA, MSc, and MBA programs. There will also be 14 best doctoral thesis awards and 14 best master's thesis awards.
Padma Shri Awardee Dr. Sridhar Vembu, the founder and CEO of Zoho Corporation, will be the event's Chief Guest.
