Amendment Rules, 2024

• The new rules are known as the Haj Committee (Amendment) Rules, 2024, and they replace the phrase "Ministry of External Affairs" with "Ministry of Minority Affairs" from the Haj Committee Rules, 2002.

Officer Nominations

• Officers from the ministries of external affairs, home affairs, finance, and civil aviation will serve as ex-officio members of the committee.

Responsibility Of The Haj Division

Coordination

• Manages cooperation with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Haj Committee of India (HCoI), and the Consulate General of India in Jeddah.

Administration

• Handles concerns concerning the Haj Committee of India and the implementation of the Haj Committee Act, 2002.

Approvals

• Grants essential permits to CGI's Haj-related initiatives in Jeddah.

Medical Support

• Ensures the delivery of medications and medical equipment for hospitals/dispensaries established by CGI, Jeddah for pilgrims' benefit.

Deputation

• Oversees the selection of administrative and medical/paramedical personnel for short-term deputation to CGI in Jeddah.

Private Tour Operators

• Manages the registration of Private Tour Operators (PTOs) and assigns Haj Quotas to PTOs.

RTI and Legal Matters

• Responds to RTIs, Parliamentary Questions, and judicial cases relating to Haj.
