Description
The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) has collaborated with numerous industries to provide employability-focused programs through Swayam Plus. Up to 24 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were negotiated with major industry partners from various industries to provide skill and employability-focused online courses and internships.
This brings Swayam Plus' total industry partners to 36. The MoUs include a wide range of sectors, including information technology, social sciences, banking and finance, soft skills, music, management, food science, Indian knowledge systems, and internships, ensuring comprehensive skill development across key areas for future employment.
Since its inception, more than 75,000 students have benefited from over 165 courses, 33 of which were matched to the National Credit Framework and covered a variety of industries like IT, healthcare, BFSI, and Indian knowledge systems, among others.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Education Minister, launched Swayam Plus, a joint effort between the Ministry of Education and IIT Madras.
Swayam Plus will provide programs in manufacturing, energy, computer science and engineering/IT/ITES, management studies, teacher education, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, social science, Indian knowledge systems, media, and communications, among other areas.
