Description

The Indian Navy collaborated with Solar Industries to build SEBEX 2, a cutting-edge weapon that is 2.01 times more powerful than TNT. This represents a significant step forward for India's Defense Export Promotion Scheme.

Advantages Of SEBEX 2

SEBEX 2 is made of High-Melting Explosives (HMX), which means it may significantly boost the destructive power of numerous weapons, such as bombs, gun rounds, and warheads, while adding no additional weight. With its certification, it is one of the world's most powerful non-nuclear explosives.

Comparative Lethality

Prior to SEBEX 2, the strongest conventional explosive deployed in India, primarily in BrahMos weapons, was around 1.50 times as powerful as TNT. On the other hand, most global weapons have TNT equivalences ranging from 1.25 to 1.30, indicating that SEBEX 2 is more effective.

Other Notable Developments

Economic Explosives Limited (EEL) is also developing a different sort of explosion that will be 2.3 times as powerful as TNT in six months. In addition, the Indian Navy has approved the first thermobaric explosive, SITBEX 1. It has been utilized in recent battles because of its long blast duration and high heat output, making it ideal for striking well entrenched enemy positions. Another significant advancement is the approval of SIMEX 4, which makes handling and storing it safer. This makes it important for delicate applications, such as submarine torpedo weapons.

About The Indian Navy

  • Historic Evolution and Key Milestones- The Indian Navy, founded in 1612 as the East India Company's Marine, played a critical part throughout WWII and was fully transformed into a Republic's force after Independence in 1950. The navy's first aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, acquired in 1961, played an important role in the 1971 Indo-Pak conflict. It also ran one of the world's oldest active ships, the INS Viraat, until its retirement in 2017.

  • Training and Diverse Operations- The Indian Naval Academy, Asia's largest, is the foundation of naval training. In 2018, an all-female crew circumnavigated the world on the INSV Tarini, demonstrating the Navy's dedication to diverse and inclusive operations. MARCOS, the Navy's special forces organization, focuses on amphibious combat, counterterrorism, and special reconnaissance missions.

  • Submarine Arms and Advanced Capabilities- The Indian Navy's submarine arm, which was launched in 1967, significantly improves its three-dimensional operating capabilities, increasing its might on land, sea, and air. This development demonstrates that the Navy places a high strategic value on maintaining a strong and adaptable maritime force.
