The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will host the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. IIT Roorkee recently unveiled its new GATE 2025 official website.
GATE 2025 will be a computer-based test (CBT) administered by IISc Bengaluru and seven IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
The exam will last three hours and will consist of 30 test papers, including whole and sectional papers. The portions will be General Aptitude (GA) and the candidate's preferred subjects. The candidate's chosen disciplines will include MCQs, Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and/or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

General Aptitude: 15 marks
Engineering Mathematics**: 13 marks
Subject Questions: 72 marks
Total: 100 marks

General Aptitude: 15 marks
Subject Questions: 85 marks
Total: 100 marks
A wrong answer in an MCQ will result in negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ, a wrong answer will result in a 1/3 mark deduction. For a 2-mark MCQ, an incorrect answer will result in a 2/3 mark deduction. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers to MSQ or NAT questions. There is no partial marking in MSQ.
In 2024, GATE 2024 was held on February 3, 4, 10, and 11. The response sheets were provided on February 15, the answer keys and question papers were released on February 19, and the results were announced on March 16. GATE is a national-level examination that assesses a broad understanding of several undergraduate disciplines in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities.
