The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to candidates for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs each year. The Common University Entrance Test is required for admission to central universities in India. However, some universities admit candidates without scores. These colleges include Nagaland University, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), Sikkim University, North Eastern Hill University, and many others.
The Union Ministry of Education has allowed certain universities to admit students without Common University Entrance Test scores, citing a shortage of resources to admit students based on CUET marks.
